Ying Wang
Wang’s practice primarily focuses on drafting, filing, and prosecuting U.S. patent applications in the biotechnology and chemical arts in the United States and internationally. Prior to practicing law, Wang earned a Ph.D. in genetics where she focused on Drosophila (fruit fly) models. As a postdoctoral fellow, Wang conducted extensive screening of small molecule inhibitors targeting cancer-causing genes, with a specific focus on the steroid receptor coactivator (SRC) family. She evaluated the efficacy of the leading hits and investigated their mechanisms of action, examined the efficacy of these inhibitors in combination with other therapeutic agents, and optimized treatment strategies for maximizing antitumor effects.
During her study at the University of Akron School of Law, Wang earned multiple CALI Excellence for the Future Awards (awarded to the student with the highest score in a class) in Contracts, Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Law, UCC – sales, International Property Law, and Patent Prosecution. She was a member of the Moot Court Team. She contributed to the Akron law Review first as an assistant editor and then as a production editor. Wang’s achievement includes the first-place winner in the 2022-23 American Association of Patent Judges Honorable Frederick (“Fred”) E. McKelvey Writing competition.
