Michael R. Steel
Mr. Steel specializes in intellectual property issues in the electronic and computer technologies. A main focus of his practice relates to preparing and prosecuting patent applications with an emphasis on computer software, computer networks and cloud computing systems. More particularly, Mr. Steel has written patent applications in a range of areas including Machine Learning, database management, optics, RF circuitry and user experience. Further, his patent prosecution experience extends to all phases of PCT applications as well as leveraging long-term relationships with agents and associates to secure patent protection worldwide.
Mr. Steel has extensive experience with patent-eligibility issues (particularly 35 U.S.C. ยง101 rejections) related to software. Mr. Steel has conducted numerous Examiner Interviews to advance prosecution of patent applications. Moreover, he has extensive experience with appeal practice before the Patent Trials and Appeals Board.
